6 Important Social Media Goals You Should Start Pursuing Now

Social media goalsGoals are simply what you want to achieve. They are the starting point on your road to business success. In previous posts such as this one, I talked about the importance of having a marketing strategy and how to craft one. Well the first thing you have to do while crafting a marketing strategy is to state your goals. It also applies with social media marketing. Your goals are the building blocks to an effective social media strategy. But the question now is what kind of social media goals should you set? What social media goals are worth chasing?

Here are some social media goals you should be pursuing in your social media marketing efforts;

Goal 1 – Build Trust With Your Target Market

Your social media efforts should be geared towards establishing and building trust with your target market. This is very important because people only buy from people and brands they trust. Show your values, personality and unique selling proposition through your content. Create and share content valuable to your target market. This will create trust in their minds.

Goal 2 – Attract New Prospects & Opportunities

Your social media efforts should attract prospects (leads) to your products or services. It’s not enough to entertain an inform people, you have to consistently attract new prospects. As the saying goes, if you are not making money, your business is just a hobby. Same goes for your social media efforts.

Goal 3 – Show Solutions to Prospects Problems

Your social media content should show how your product or service solves the problems of your target market. Your content should show that you understand their problems, their pain and needs. Successful businesses are great at solving the problems of their prospects and they show it through their content.

Goal 4 – Overcome Objections

When people consider a product or service, they not only consider the potential benefits to but also if there will be problems while using it or if it will be harmful to them. This is why you need to use your social media efforts to address the concerns of your target market. Find out why they may not buy from you and address and resolve those issues through your content.

For example, do prospects find your product or service expensive? Then your content should demonstrate how the product gives more value that outweighs the price.

Goal 5 – Tell Positive Stories

Storytelling is a great way to connect with your target market. Let them experience your product or service through your content. Describe what it’s like to use your products. How they will feel. Use your content to paint an image in the minds of your target customers.

Goal 6 – Deepen loyalty of Existing Customers

It costs less to maintain an existing customer than to get new ones. Your social media efforts should deepen the relationship with your existing customers. This will lead to more referrals. Your customers will also become your biggest brand ambassadors attracting positive feelings and goodwill towards your business.

One Last Thing

When pursuing these goals, make them SMART( Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely ). For example if it’s to attract new prospects, make that goal smart by saying attract 10 new leads every month in 2017. Your goals should also support your overall business goals and vision.
