7 Tips To Getting More Customer Referrals

Here are 5 tips to get people (mostly your customers) to recommend your product or service to others;

  • Have a product/service that meets the specific needs of your target market (ie the people who you want to do business with you)
  • Give your customers something to talk about with their friends and family. Exceed their expectations. Give them a great experience different from what your competitors are doing eg If you run a pastry shop or restaurant, you can offer free deliveries if other restaurants don’t do so.
  • Look for ways to interact with your customers. This can be through organizing events for your target market, go to events/places they hang out at or through the various social media platforms that they frequent.
  • Encourage customers to tell people about your business. You can do this by offering them rewards (discounts, gifts, special offers, free consultations etc) if they refer people to your business.
  • Regularly identify and select customers that you think might know people interested in your product or service, and then ask to be referred to them. Be careful when doing this so you don’t annoy or offend your customers.
  • One great way to get referrals is to give them. Get to know your loyal customers and what they do. Look for ways to help their own business by referring their products/services to people who need them.
  • Use social media marketing to announce, amplify and support what you’re doing above. Social media gives you the opportunity to reach more people. Research and identify the social media platforms your customers are using and use them too.
