Enhance Your Social Media Profiles With These Tips

Your social media profile is very important when selling online. It is usually the first or second encounter people have with your brand online. It also determines how you appear in search results. This is why it”s very important to have a great social media profile/page that encourages people to follow you and patronise your business.

WAYS TO ENHANCE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES

1. Make Your Profile Pictures Consistent Across All Your Social Media Platforms

Your profile picture and username will be the first thing that people see when landing on your account. So, you have to make it count.
Make sure your  profile picture makes sense for your brand and is in line with what you do. Also use the same profile picture and username throughout all of your social media accounts. This way, if someone stumbles upon your Twitter and wants to follow you on Instagram, they can easily find your profile. Consistency is key here.

2. Make Sure Your Username Is Easy To Spell & Searchable

To make your name searchable on instagram, change your profile name to what you do.
For example, on my instagram profile instead of my name, you have marketing and social media coach. So whenever someone searches for a marketing coach,  my profile pops up.

3. Describe What You Do By The Results You Offer

Example – don’t  just say fashion designer or clothing store, describe the type of clothes and what it will do for the customer eg Stylish outfits that make you the centre of attention.

4. Include Contact Details In Your Bio

Include your physical address number, email etc in your bio so people have a way of reaching out to you.

5. Delete Bad Pictures & Posts On Your Page

Do you look at some of your old posts and shake your head at what you posted? It’s ok to delete those pictures. Go through your page and delete poor quality pictures or any picture and post that reflects poorly on your brand.

6. Untag Yourself From Bad Pictures And Inappropriate Posts

Being vigilant about tagged photos can help you quickly clean up your profiles and project a more professional image on social media.
Also check your photo tagging settings. Who do you want to be able to tag your business in posts? Would you like to approve these tags before they show up on your profile?
  • Facebook allows you to review and approve tags on your photos, as well as untag yourself from other photos.
  • Instagram allows you to approve photos you’re tagged in before they appear on your profile.
  • Twitter allows you to restrict who can tag you in photos, and remove any tags. However don’t put it off so that customers can tag you in pictures of your product or service

7. Add Keywords To Your Profile For SEO

What do you want to be known for?  Make sure you include it in your  bios and as a hashtag. For example, if you want to be known for bedsheets in Lagos, include that in your bio and use it as a hashtag.

8. Include A Link To Your Other Social Media Profiles

For example – Put your instagram and twitter handle on your LinkedIn profile and vice versa.

9. Ask Friendly, Satisfied Customers For Reviews Or A Testimonial

You can give them an incentive to do so like a free gift or discount on their next purchase. Having positive reviews or testimonials on your social media profiles can go a long way in earning people’s trust and increasing your chances of turning strangers into followers, and followers into customers.

  • Take a positive tweet about your business and pin it to the top of your stream so anyone visiting your profile will see it.
  • Use the visitor post section on Facebook pages . This is where people can highlight the good work you’ve been doing.
  • Dedicate a highlight for testimonials on your insta stories

10. Include Real Pictures Of Your Products

Instagram especially, is all about visuals, so make your feed look pleasing to the eye. Use clear, quality pictures. If you’re selling products, it’s best to use real pictures and videos of your products on your platforms as it boosts your credibility and shows that you’re not fake.

11. Make Sure Your Captions Are Relevant To Your Posts

Also include questions/ calls to action regularly in your posts to engage your audience.

12. Other Tips

  • Pin Your Best Posts On Twitter And Facebook
  • Promote Your Best Posts Using Online Ads
  •  Post At Your Best Time When Your Audience Will Be Online. To determine that, check your facebook or instagram insights.
