Keep Your Customers Loyal With These Strategies

keep customer loyalCustomers are the lifeblood of your business, making it possible to achieve your business goals. It is easier and cheaper to keep customers loyal to your business than to get new ones. If you have convinced someone to buy your product or service, then you have created a relationship. All you need to do now is maintain that relationship by keeping them happy.

Unfortunately many businesses neglect their customers. They give discounts, free samples/services and carry out all sorts of promotions to attract new customers which is great and necessary, but never forget the ones you have in the process. Otherwise you’ll end up losing them and their referrals to your competitors. Don’t forget that they can also tell their negative experiences to the world, deterring prospective customers to your business.

More Reasons Why You Should Take Customer Loyalty Seriously

  • Loyal customers spread the word about your business. I recently changed my brand of toothpaste because my Mom and sister raved about it so much that I decided to try it. That’s what loyal customers do. They become your brand evangelists
  • Customers who are loyal o your business will stick with you unless you give them a reason not to.
  • They would do more business with you just to support you
  • They will always take your side. They are like football fans in this regard.

So it is important and profitable to keep your existing customers happy.

Ways To Keep Your Customers Happy

There are many ways to keep your customers happy and retain them in the process but let me just list a few

  • Deliver on your promises
  • Stay in touch. Look for meaningful ways to stay in touch with your customers. You can use social media to reach out and connect with them. Social media gives you the opportunity to send messages to your customers, answer their questions/concerns individually or on a large-scale. If you need help with social media, click here.
  • Say sorry when you mess up.
  • Remember special occasions in their lives
  • Reward them for their loyalty
  • Exceed their expectations
  • Listen to them. Ask them for their opinions because it will make them feel valued and you would also get a better understanding of their needs. This feedback will help you improve your product/service
  • Go out of your way to help them even if there is no obvious or immediate benefit to you
  • Make it easy for them to keep buying from you.
  • Make use of social media to engage your customers. There’s so much that you can do with social media. More than half of the points I listed above can be done through social media. If you want to use social media to engage and retain your customers, click here.
