How To Set Social Media Marketing Goals Based On Your Business Revenue Goals

It’s the beginning of the last quarter of 2017. You have set goals for your business. You have set sales targets but how can you translate that to social media? How can you align your marketing goals to your business revenue goals?

For a lot of businesses on social media, getting customers is a big challenge and. The first step of attracting customers online is to set social media goals that align with your business goals. It’s important to align your business goals to your social media marketing goals so that you can track and measure if you are making progress.

How to Set Your Marketing Goals Based on Your Business Revenue Goals

Below are the 10 steps for setting well-defined marketing goals that are in line with the goals of your business;

  1. Set your business revenue goals
  2. Determine how many sales you need to make to meet your business revenue goals.
  3. You do this by taking your revenue goal and dividing it by the value of your average sale. For example, if your desired revenue is 500,000 naira monthly and the value of one sale is 10,000 naira, then you need 50 new customers monthly.
  4. Identify your closing rate which is the number of people you usually convince out of the number of people your business comes in contact with in a month. For example, if you usually convince 50% of the people you come in contact with and you need 12 customers monthly, then you need 24 prospective customers monthly. One tip that can increase your conversions is to have more attractive content.
  5. The next thing to do is to determine the number of people who need to indicate interest in your product (also called leads). It is from your pool of leads that you get qualified prospective customers. So if for example, you need 24 prospective customers, determine how many people you need to attract into your email lists to get 24 leads. The safest bet is to triple it so in this instance it will be 72 people.
  6. Finally identify how many visitors (traffic) you need to achieve your goals. What is the rate? How many people usually sign up to your email lists? What is the percentage compared to the number of people on your pages or who visit your website?
