Why No One Is Buying From You Online

Do you know why people are not buying your products/services? As a business owner, it’s very important because you can use the knowledge to correct the problem and better position your product/service. Do you want to increase your sales? Find out why customers are resisting your products or services and help them overcome it.

Some reasons why people are not buying from you include;

  1. Your Product Is Not Meeting Their Needs

It’s either your product doesn’t provide solutions to their problems, they feel it won’t meet their needs adequately or what you’re solving is not that big of a problem to your audience.

Solution – If your product or service is not providing solutions to problems important to your customers, then you have to fine tune it. Change your target market to people who have the problems/ needs that your product solves and will appreciate it. Move beyond just selling to meeting needs. See if you can identify 3 needs your products solve.

Also get your audience to see how important your product is through your content. Show or tell them the benefits of your product in your content, offers, presentations, advertising and promotional materials.

  1. The Value Of Your Product Doesn’t Match The Price Being Offered To Them

Solution – Find out what your customers value in regards to your product and give it to them. It may be faster delivery, more qualified staff, change in the packaging of the product or an increase/reduction in the price etc. Always exceed their expectations and see their response.

  1. They Can’t Afford It

Not everyone can afford your product/service even if they want it.

Solution – The solution here is not to reduce the price of the product. This is because price reduction usually does not create loyal customers. Once there is a cheaper alternative, they will leave you to the competition. What you should do instead is to offer flexible payment options that will not dilute your brand. If that’s not possible, then you have to let them go and target people who can afford the value being offered by your business.

  1. Not Enough Information

People may not have the information about your product or service needed in order for them to make a buying decision.

Solution – Find out what information they may need to make a decision and give it to them. For example, do you make deliveries? What are the charges?  Is it by location? How long will it take?  How long does your product last? etc. It is important to know your product thoroughly, it’s benefits, how to use the product, importance of your product, payment options etc.

  1. They Are Already Buying From Your Competition

Solution – If this is the case, find out why and then position your product as a better alternative. Look at things your competition is not offering or doing which prospective customers will appreciate and do that.

  1. There Is No Urgency To Buy Your Products

A lack of urgency gives people an opportunity to procrastinate.

Solution – Communicate to your customers why they should buy your product now and the consequences of deferring it. Consequences may be loss of money, reputation etc. Whatever it is, sell the pain. Also offer incentives if they buy now and not later. This will spur them to take action.

  1. They Don’t Trust You Or Your Product

Trust is very important in business especially online and it is difficult to earn.

Solution – Tips to gain the trust of your online audience include, adding your contact details in your bio, using real pictures and videos of your products, show your face in videos/pictures and offer helpful tips. Also make use of testimonials, reviews, endorsements(maybe celebrity or expert), share interesting content,  interact with your followers and post consistently.

This will show your value and earn the trust of your online audience.

BONUS REASONS

  1. You’re Selling To Everyone & So Appealing To Very Few People

You should have a well defined target market (ie a group of people who you can serve very well or who would benefit the most from your products).

For example, instead of just selling clothes to everyone, target a specific group of people – young mothers or corporate women who earn between —- to —-, students etc. It will help your business a lot.

  1. Poor Quality Pictures/Videos & Content In General

  1. Slow Response To Enquiries
